RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported more than 65mm of rainfall so far and forecasted more rain later this week as a result of Tuesday’s intense rainstorm that battered Rawalpindi and Islamabad with strong winds.
Beginning early in the morning and continuing sporadically, the rains has much improved the humid weather and reduced the current high temperatures.
The Met Office reports that 65 mm of rain fell on the twin cities: 64 mm fell on Bokra in Rawalpindi, 50 mm fell on Pir Wadhai, 54 mm fell on Shamsabad, and 52 mm fell on Saidpur in Islamabad.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) declared a rain emergency in Rawalpindi in reaction to the heavy downpour. In areas that are susceptible, the agency has sent emergency personnel and equipment.
