Following a brief conference in the Netherlands, NATO leaders reaffirmed their commitment to defending one another from attack and endorsed the significant increase in defense spending that US President Donald Trump had asked on Wednesday.
After using less precise language on Tuesday, Trump’s partners in NATO will be glad that he reaffirmed his commitment to the core idea of collective defense, even though he received what he wanted at the annual gathering.
During a news conference, Trump declared that “we had a great victory here” and expressed his hope that the extra money would be used on American-made military equipment.
