UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s permanent envoy to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has urged the UN Security Council to act quickly to settle the Kashmir dispute.
Ahmad’s comments coincided with Pakistan assuming the council’s July chairmanship. He claimed that there are significant tensions between India and Pakistan as a result of the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
He said it was time for the world to take action and not let the issue fade into the background at a crowded press conference at the UN headquarters in New York.
