After the two nations attacked one another for 12 days, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared on Thursday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had been instrumental in bringing about the ceasefire.
The interior minister’s comments allude to the unrest in the Middle East that began on June 13 following Israel’s bombing campaign in Iran, which claimed the lives of senior military leaders and scientists connected to the country’s nuclear program. In retaliation, Tehran attacked Israeli cities with ballistic missiles.
Tehran launched extensive retaliation strikes on Israeli targets, causing what it says is “significant damage” to important sites in the occupied territories, in response to the Israeli attack, which occurred just days before scheduled Iran-US negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program.
