According to lottery officials, a woman from Lexington purchased a Powerball ticket using numbers from a fortune cookie and won a $50,000 jackpot.
Kathy Bailey decided to buy a Powerball ticket using the numbers from a fortune cookie after she and her family had just finished eating Chinese food. The Lexington resident also wagered $5 on Golden Snake Triple Play while on the Kentucky Lottery website.
Her screen flashed a $50,000 victory a few seconds later. The Kentucky Lottery states that there is a one in two million chance of earning $50,000 with a $5 ticket.
“Oh my god,” said Bailey. “You might want to look at this and let me know if I’m seeing this correctly,” I said to my spouse.
