PESHAWAR: Police said Thursday that a terror attack on the Gambila police station in Lakki Marwat was prevented when on-duty policemen noticed suspicious activity close to the building and opened fire in retaliation.
The statement said that no police officers were hurt and that the attackers were forced to escape by the shooting.
Zulfiqar Hameed, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), commended the Gambila officers for their professional preparedness, remarkable alertness, and quick, brave reaction to the attempted attack.
In order to track down the attackers and find any potential hiding places connected to the aborted attempt, police have opened an inquiry and are searching the surrounding areas.
