Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and an advocate for girls’ education, is in Tanzania on her 28th birthday, where she is interacting with young women who are actively pursuing their right to an education.
This is Malala’s first trip to the nation, and she has already visited with Malala Fund partners and local education advocates. She hopes to learn more about Tanzania’s successes as well as the continued obstacles Tanzanian girls face in obtaining high-quality education.
The visit marks an important turning point in the Malala Fund’s ongoing efforts to support secondary education for girls in the area. Malala shared her personal experiences, policy priorities, and thoughts on the value of education with local education officials during her time there.
