LAHORE: According to sources familiar with the situation, the government and the opposition have established their respective negotiation committees to discuss the speaker’s disqualification reference against the latter’s members in the Punjab Assembly, which may be a sign of the political tensions in Punjab.
If successful, the negotiations could result in Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan removing the disqualifying reference. The second session of the negotiation committees is scheduled for Sunday (tomorrow).
Salman Rafique, Ahmed Iqbal, Ali Haider Gilani, Shafay Hussain, Shoaib Siddiqui, Rana Arshad, Samiullah, and Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman will lead the government side. Ali Imtiaz, Sheikh Imtiaz, Shafi, and Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar will be on the opposition committee.
