ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) postponed rendering a decision on Monday on the distribution of reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, a case that was brought by the PML-N, JUI-F, and other parties.
After hearing arguments from both sides, a four-member ECP bench led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja reserved the decision.
Attorneys from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and other parties testified before the election authority during the hearing.
The ECP’s announcement about the allocation of seats allotted for women and minorities in the KP Assembly was revoked by the PHC on July 8. The PMLN filed a petition contesting the allocation, and the court issued its two-page ruling in response.
