ISLAMABAD: The federal government has made it clear that the newly renamed Federal Constabulary, formerly known as Frontier Constabulary, is not a federal police agency and that the change is solely intended to restructure the force.
“It is important for everyone to understand that the Federal Constabulary is a federal police force. At a press conference on Monday with FC Commandant Riaz Nazir Gara, Minister of State for the Interior Talal Chaudhry declared, “FC will remain FC.”
The Frontier Constabulary was formally renamed the “Federal Constabulary” after President Asif Ali Zardari issued the Frontier Constabulary (Re-organization) Ordinance, 2025 in accordance with Article 89 of the Constitution. This announcement coincided with the minister’s news conference.
