Since they arrived in late June, Pakistan’s monsoon rains have been responsible for over 110 fatalities, including dozens of children, according to government statistics released Monday.
According to data from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) from June 26 to July 14, flash floods and electrocution were the two main causes of death.
While taking cover from flash floods on an elevated riverbank in late June, at least 13 visitors were washed to their deaths.
The disaster service claimed in its most recent report that 111 people, including 53 children, have died, with Punjab, the most populous province, having the greatest death toll.
