ISLAMABAD: Five foreign nationals who are alleged to have run an illegal contact center in the capital’s G-10 neighborhood have been placed on two days of physical detention by an Islamabad district and sessions court.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) introduced the suspects in court.
The NCCIA claims that during a recent operation, the call center was discovered to be hosting a bogus web network that was purportedly operated by the five foreigners. Additionally, some 60 Pakistani nationals worked at the location.
The prosecutor said during the court proceedings that the accused were a part of a coordinated network that exploited illicit websites to conduct online scams. While requesting the defendants’ physical remand, the prosecutor informed the court that “more interrogation of the suspects is necessary.”
