After the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officially certified its list of candidates, confirming names finalized by party founder Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s senate elections would be held without a contest.
At its meeting on Friday, the PTI political committee approved the same candidates that the party’s parliamentary board had earlier suggested.
Following a more comprehensive agreement between the opposition and the provincial government, the action paves the way for a peaceful and uncontested election in the province.
The official notification states that Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, Mirza Khan Afridi, Faisal Javed, and Murad Saeed have been put forward by the PTI for general seats.
Azam Khan Swati has been nominated for the technocrat position, and Rubina Naz will run for the women’s seat.
