LAHORE: In order to send a positive message, Acting Punjab Assembly Speaker Zahid Iqbal Channar has ordered the immediate reinstatement of 26 opposition members of the provincial house who were suspended.
“Even I’m not enjoying it without the opposition members,” Channar said in a Tuesday speech to the chamber.
He ordered the prompt issue of a notification to bring the opposition legislators back to the assembly floor, stating that their presence is essential for genuine parliamentary debate.
PTI MPs demonstrated in the house on June 27 while Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was speaking. As parliamentarians gathered around the speaker’s dais and shouted slogans, the proceedings descended into chaos.
