ISLAMABAD: Zahir Jaffer, the convicted murderer of Noor Mukadam, filed a review petition in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, contesting the ruling of the top court from May 20 that had confirmed his death sentence for the horrific murder of the 27-year-old at his expansive Islamabad mansion in 2021.
Earlier this year, Jaffer’s death sentence and fine were affirmed by a three-member court led by Justice Hashim Kakar and consisting of Justices Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Ali Baqar Najafi. The supreme court further lowered the sentences of the co-accused, Jaffer’s gardener and watchman, and decided that the penalties already meted out to them would be adequate.
When Jaffer, the son of an industrialist, viciously attacked and killed Mukaddam, the daughter of a former ambassador, in 2021, the case gained widespread attention.
