The deadline for filing federal excise duty and sales tax returns for the tax period of June 2025 has been formally extended by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), giving taxpayers until August 4 to do so.
The extension was offered in order to accommodate companies and people who were unable to meet the initial deadline, which was July 18.
In order to take advantage of the extended filing date, taxpayers must make sure that the tax owed is paid by the original deadline, even though the filing return deadline has been moved forward, according to an FBR statement.
A significant overhaul of the tax return system with the goal of making it more transparent and user-friendly was announced by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on June 10.
