On Tuesday, Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning about potential river flooding brought on by rains in the country’s upper regions and India’s anticipated water release in the days ahead.
“India’s two-day water release into the Sutlej River is feared. The water levels of Indian dams have risen abnormally,” a PDMA representative stated.
According to him, India’s Bhakra, Pong, and Thein dams have each achieved 61%, 76%, and 64% of their full capacity.
The PDMA director general (DG) stated that the condition of rivers and dams was being checked continuously, with a warning for medium to high level flood in the Chenab River.
