ISLAMABAD: According to The News, the Pakistan poll Commission (ECP) intends to hold the presidential poll on March 9, only one day before Ramadan begins.
A senior ECP official acknowledged to the publication that there is a solid proposal for the president’s election on March 9. Once authorized, the timeline for the electoral process, which involves the parliament and provincial legislatures, will be issued.”
The 14th head of state will ascend to the White House in the next month’s presidential election. Dr. Arif Alvi, the current president, concluded his five-year term on September 8 last year but continues to maintain office in the absence of the legislatures, with the exception of Pakistan’s Senate.
