According to sources, the caretaker federal administration has answered to President Arif Alvi’s letter by stating that Article 91 of the Constitution does not prohibit the National Assembly from being summoned while the House is unfinished.
According to reports, the caretaker government stated in the letter that the president can only halt the ordinary [NA] session under Article 54.
They stated the caretaker government has asked the president to reconsider his decision to return the summary requesting that the NA session be convened.
The caretakers argued that it is not the president’s prerogative or discretion to cancel the NA session under Article 91.
