After a by-election brought about by the passing of Labour’s Sir Tony Lloyd, he will serve as the representative for Rochdale.
With a majority, Mr. Galloway easily defeated his rivals, with independent candidate David Tully coming in second, the Conservatives in third, and Labour in fourth.
Labour retracted its endorsement of the candidate after receiving accusations of antisemitism.
Both Alba MP Neale Hanvey and Conservative MP Sir Peter Bottomley presented Mr. Galloway to the Commons.
As he came and finished the procedures, which included shaking the Speaker’s hand, there was stillness in the room. Typically, supporters of the newly elected MP cheer him on.
On Monday morning, Mr. Galloway arrived at Westminster and informed the broadcasters who were waiting outside that he “always loved the building – the people in it not so much”.
