Super Tuesday in the United States has come to an end, with voters in 16 states and one territory voting in presidential nominating races.
Donald Trump and Joe Biden, who are seeking a second term as president, appeared to be the majority’s top choices.
More than one-third of all available delegates for the Republican and Democratic primaries are at play in what Newsweek describes as the “biggest primary election of the 2024 cycle”.
President Biden and former President Trump had a steady lead on Super Tuesday, with both candidates expected to win all but one contest in their respective primaries.
Meanwhile, former United Nations US Ambassador Nikki Haley won her first GOP primary in Vermont, preventing another Trump sweep.
In the Republican primaries, Trump is expected to win Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Alabama, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, and Virginia.
However, Haley is expected to win Vermont, with Republican contests in Alaska and Utah still to be decided.
