On Thursday, the Pakistani High Commission in the United Kingdom observed National Day, with High Commissioner Dr Mohammad Faisal praising Pakistan’s founders for presenting a vision that expressed the “aspirations of millions”.
“Our founders presented a very precise vision for Pakistan that went beyond mere words and was an expression of the collective aspirations of millions of people, and which laid the foundations of our beloved homeland,” Dr Faisal remarked during a ceremony at Pakistan House in London.
The celebration on March 23, Pakistan’s National Day, was held ahead of schedule to coincide with the holy month of Ramadan, which begins next week.
The ceremony was attended by about 500 people, including British lawmakers, diplomats, senior civil and military authorities, mayors and councilors, prominent members of the Pakistani community, and British friends of Pakistan.
After paying honor to Pakistan’s founding leaders, the high commissioner discussed the country’s present concerns.
Dr. Faisal stated that Pakistan now had a newly elected administration, which he regarded as a significant development in the country’s democratic history.
“With a thorough knowledge of the challenges ahead, the elected government is committed to achieving prosperity, stability, and inclusivity. “Pakistan is facing the future with renewed hope and determination,” he remarked.
Dr Faisal stated that the country has entered a new era following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to seek G20 membership by the end of this decade.
He also praised Pakistanis living in the United Kingdom, citing their exceptional achievements and significant contributions in politics, health, the arts, science, business, and education.
“British-Pakistanis are a symbol of perseverance, dedication, and unwavering courage, epitomising the essence of our homeland,” the prime minister remarked.
