Jane Hartley expressed her “optimism” that the US will provide additional financing for Ukraine to News anchor Kay Burley last week from her official residence in central London. However, she added, “I think anybody who thinks that Russia may stop after this, I think is wrong.”
“I witnessed what transpired in Crimea in 2014 while serving as ambassador to France and Monaco. “It is unclear why someone could conclude that this is the end for Russia,” she remarked.
In my opinion, democracy is in jeopardy. Thus, we must aid Ukraine.”
Burley questioned Ms. Hartley if she felt the mood was “almost comparable” to what she had previously seen before the Second World War, to which she replied, “these are difficult days.”
Following that, she stated that “we want to do everything we can to make sure Ukraine is still a strong democracy and that Russia loses this war” .
Speaking about Israel’s conflict with Hamas, the ambassador said that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza “is also terrifying.
“We believe Israel has a right to defend itself,” she stated.
