The judges piled on the pressure, stating that “Palestinians in Gaza are no longer facing only a risk of famine… but that famine is setting in” and demanding immediate action to stop widespread suffering.
The court ordered Israel to expand the number of land crossings into Gaza and collaborate with the UN to guarantee that sufficient supplies of fuel, food, water, electricity, shelter, clothes, and other necessities enter the region.
In connection with an ongoing lawsuit alleging that Israel committed genocide in Gaza, South Africa demanded the extra sanctions.
Israel vehemently disputes the accusation, claiming to be acting in military self-defense and requesting that the International Court of Justice not make any interim rulings.
