Thousands of app users complained about having trouble accessing the three websites in the evening, and many of them vented their frustrations on other social media platforms.
A later update on Meta’s status page said that most problems had been fixed. An inquiry for comment from the corporation has not yet received a response.
On Wednesday, issues started at 18:00 BST (14:00 EST).
Around 82,000 problems with WhatsApp were reported by the UK website Downdetector, which tracks website performance, at 18:25. However, an hour later, the problem seems to have been mostly fixed.
At 18:20, 3,700 outages were reported by users on Instagram, and those figures remained high for a few hours.
