Diagnostic radiologists—those who perform CT, MRI, and X-rays—may plead that the tax discriminates against and disproportionately affects women under the Equality Act.
They claim that ill-fitting bras can result in musculoskeletal issues, which can force people to take time off of work.
At their three-day annual conference in Leeds on Tuesday, delegates will propose the following motion: “Because of the weight of their breasts, people who wear a bra size D or above frequently experience neck pain, aching shoulders, and backaches.”
Wearing a high-quality, well fitting bra could help with some of these problems and cut down on the amount of time missed due to musculoskeletal ailments.
Women are disproportionately impacted by the VAT on bras. According to the Equality Act of 2010, taxing bras may be discriminatory.
