Hundreds of sub-postmasters who oversaw branches were found guilty of theft and false accounting as a result of the accounting computer programme that fraudulently caused financial losses at Post Office branches around the UK.
The investigation aims to determine who knew what and when about this programme.
Many additional sub-postmasters suffered from severe debt, had their reputations destroyed, and were forced to move out of their communities and lose their houses as a result of Horizon’s mistakes.

However, the focus of attention was Post Office’s financial situation in the early to mid-2000s.
