KARACHI: According to a Tuesday story in The News, Karachi’s business community accused Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) of taxing the industry with expensive LNG without having the authority to set prices.
During a public hearing held by the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on SSGC’s petition for a revision of its prescribed prices and estimated income requirements for FY2023–2024, claims were made.
A contentious discussion concerning the cost of LNG for industry and unaccounted-for gas (UFG) losses also broke out in the industry, with the head of SSGC threatening to cut off gas supply to companies that don’t require LNG.
