According to diplomats, intensive negotiations were ongoing at the United Nations ahead of an expected vote Tuesday on a resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities to allow much-needed aid into Gaza. The United Nations Security Council will meet on Tuesday to discuss, among other things, a resolution drafted by the UAE calling for a cessation of hostilities in Gaza to allow for the delivery of critically needed humanitarian aid, according to UAE Ambassador to the UN Lana Nusseibeh. The vote was set for Monday but was moved up a day to allow for extra time for discussions. The conversations are centered on drafting language that could elicit a “yes” vote from the US, or at the very least an abstention.
