Following the tragedy on Monday afternoon, local time, officials in the city of George, on the southern coast of the nation, report that 24 people have been transported to the hospital and 51 people are still stranded.
According to the time stamp on the CCTV footage that Reuters was able to get, the building collapsed just after 2:00 pm, creating a cloud of dust.
Drone footage revealed a totally leveled construction site with sections of the building’s roof resting on the debris.
According to the provincial government, sniffing dogs are being used by police and rescue crews to search for debris.
Leon van Wyk, the mayor of George, informed news that rescue supplies were en route.
