The prime minister was commenting in response to a news analysis of the results that suggested a hung parliament was likely in the works for the nation.
Speaking from a north London charitable organization, Mr. Sunak stated: “Although this was a disappointing weekend for us, the independent analysis shows that the outcome of the next general election isn’t a foregone conclusion and is actually closer than the situation is closer than many people are saying.”
In addition, Mr. Sunak expressed gratitude to the over 500 Tory council members who were removed from office over the weekend.
The prime minister stated, “Well, obviously disappointing to lose Conservative councillors and a fantastic mayor for the West Midlands in Andy Street.”
