The discredited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has renewed its aspirations of coming back to power following the Supreme Court’s decision to stay the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) ruling over the Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) reserved seats.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser praised the ruling of the supreme court during a press conference held in Islamabad on Monday, co-hosted by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).
If the courts keep handing down decisions like these, the PTI will take over soon, he said.
A no-confidence motion filed by the opposition in April 2022 brought down the PTI-led government. The party created by Imran Khan, however, claimed that its removal was due to a plot orchestrated by the US through cooperation with the opposition parties at the time.
