On May 14, the federal government was asked to respond to a number of petitions that were filed to establish the new price of wheat by the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Attorney Bilal Ahmed’s case was considered by a two-member panel led by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi.
The petitioner asserted that despite possessing four million metric tons of wheat, the federal government was importing 35 million tonnes of wheat, as per the reports.
The national treasury lost one billion rupees as a result of the federal government’s import of wheat.
The wheat price has been kept at the same level by the Punjab government as it was last year.
The proportion of the monthly fee has gone up, while the rate for farmers has not.
