According to a Daily Mail exclusive, Google’s £790 million data center, which has been under construction in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, since January, appears to have caused a number of problems for the neighborhood.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has lauded the project as a vote of confidence for Britain and noted that it has brought jobs to the region.
Locals, meanwhile, claim the facility is destroying their once-pleasant views and that the bustle of building has kept them awake.
Dionne Brown, a 44-year-old local, expressed her displeasure by saying: “Google can just come in and do what they want and nobody cares about us.” Other than destroying our views and making noise all day, there are no advantages for the inhabitants.”
“If they are so committed to the environment, then why have they done this?” asked a different man, who has lived across from the other for 70 years. Why not make it a field of vegetables?”
The 44-year-old Roger Sullivan announced his move away from the data center.
