The funding agency’s first environmental and sustainability plan includes the announcement of a new investment package aimed at “helping sports battle climate change.”
“To help more people get active in nature, restore flooded sports pitches, and help sports clubs become sustainable,” a total of £45 million will be allocated.
By 2027, in order to be eligible for public support, major sports governing organizations will also need to address climate change with “robust sustainability action plans.”
“We are finding it harder to lead healthy, active lives as a result of extreme weather, with more and more sporting events being canceled or postponed.
