The 65-year-old design great stated that he was “seriously considering changing teams, going somewhere else, and doing another four or five years or whatever”.
Newey continued: “I feel a little bit tired at the moment, but at some point I’ll probably go again.”
Newey’s decision to depart his position as Red Bull’s chief technological officer after 19 years was announced earlier this month.
His most recent statements were made in an interview with his manager, Eddie Jordan, the former F1 team boss, for a boat company’s marketing video, which was uploaded on YouTube.
Newey is recognized as the greatest F1 designer.
