This is the question Susan Lee asks herself each day. It is part of the emotional pain associated with Hepatitis C.
Susan was born with von Willebrand’s illness.
As a kid, her blood clotting condition was treated using a medication known as Factor 8. It was meant to revolutionise haemophilia treatments.
Instead, the American goods sourced from prisons and drug addicts was contaminated with HIV and Hepatitis. It was not tested or processed before being injected into patients’ veins.
The risks were known. Susan’s father expressed concerns.
Susan recalls a specific instance in which he entered the consulting room and chatted with my consultant.
[He] stated, ‘I’m really concerned about this, and I would like you to let me know if Susan has or will receive any American blood products’.
