Margot Robbie offers her candid assessment of those who saw Oppenheimer and Barbie consecutively.
The Suicide Squad actress told Cillian Murphy that when Barbie became a “cultural phenomenon,” she was astounded.
The famous pair discussed their most recent endeavors, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer biography, in a recent interview for Variety.
As Cillian questioned Margot about her hopes for the film Barbie, the producer said that while she was hoping for “big reactions,” she never saw Barbie turning into a billion-dollar hit.
“Yeah, I knew people would notice, but things got really crazy, and it dawned on me that it might be even bigger than I thought,” the woman said. Then she talked about how Barbie came out on the same day as Oppenheimer and how that led to the “eccentric” Barbenheimer phenomenon.
Before concluding, the actress, 33, remarked, “It was annoying that people would say things like, ‘Oh, watch ‘Oppenheimer,’ then ‘Barbie.'” I thought, “See? “People are weird; they like everything,” the statement goes.
