As the final contender against Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination this year, Ms. Haley made a number of visits with Danny Danon, an Israeli parliamentarian from Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.
Mr. Danon shared a composite of four images of himself and Ms. Haley on Twitter, one of which showed her squatting to scribble on an artillery shell belonging to the Israeli Defense Force.
“Finish them!” was how he started his post in English. He concluded by saying in Hebrew: “This is what my friend, the former ambassador, Nikki Haley wrote today about a shell during a visit to an artillery post on the northern border.”
Ms. Haley added, as shown in close-up photos of her message: “America [heart] Israel.” At all times, Nikki Haley.
According to the Associated Press, Ms. Haley was exploring Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.
She was Mr. Trump’s US ambassador to the UN from late 2017 to the end of 2018, and she has always been a staunch ally of Israel.
Her visit occurred a few days after Israeli strikes occurred in the southern Gazan city of Rafah, from which over a million Palestinians evacuated after Israel declared the area to be a “safe zone”.
