MUZAFFARABAD: On Saturday, a medical team from the Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences was instructed by an anti-terrorism court in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to examine poet Ahmed Farhad.
This happened at the hearing for the case of Farhad, whose attorney asked the judge to order a medical examination for the poet from Kashmir.
According to his attorney, Iman Mazari, Farhad was moved from Dhir Kot to Muzaffarabad under many provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
The government’s attorney asked for an extension to provide his response, so the court postponed the matter until June 3.
Known for his bold prose, Farhad was allegedly kidnapped from his home on May 14.
Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan announced on May 29 that Farhad had been taken into prison by AJK Police, following the IHC’s directives to locate the missing poet.
The poet’s family met him at the Kahori police station, which is located outside of Muzaffarabad, after the development.
