A young woman wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt hurled a drink in the face of the new Reform UK leader as he was leaving the Wetherspoons Moon and Starfish bar in Clacton-on-Sea, where he was standing to become an MP. She then flung the cup at him and left.
Essex Police announced that a man in Clacton, age 25, had been placed under arrest after it was alleged that a drink had been thrown at him in Marine Parade East at around 2:10 p.m.
While the woman was being arrested, a male was also taken into custody on charges of assaulting an emergency worker.
A police spokesperson stated, “Both individuals remain in custody for questioning.”
Mr. Farage made an appearance in front of the Reform UK bus almost two hours after the incident, holding a McDonald’s banana milkshake, and he quipped, “My milkshake brings all the people to the rally.”
Afterwards, he described the experience as “quite frightening” to News, claiming he was singled out “because I go out and meet the public.”.
“What does Rishi do?” he continued. He is given a chamber with, say, twelve council members.
Nobody does street campaigns in the traditional manner like I do. And to be honest, that is really frightening. This is the risk that comes with it.”
