The fifth book in best-selling dystopian series by Suzanne Collins, Sunrise on the Reaping, is scheduled for release on March 18, 2025.
Scholastic, the book’s publishers, said today that the story will take place 40 years after Collins’ most recent book, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and 24 years before the first Hunger Games novel, which was published in 2008.
The movie studio Lionsgate, which has distributed all of the Hunger Games films, then announced that it will be turning the book into a motion picture and set November 20, 2026, as the premiere date.
Francis Lawrence is coming back to work on all of the Hunger Games movies except the first one.
For Lionsgate, the film series is worth billions of dollars. In the cinematic versions of the first three books, which divided the last book into two parts, Jennifer Lawrence played Katniss Everdeen. Other prominent actors in the series included Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Songbird and Snakes: The Movie was released in theaters last year.
A production of The Hunger Games is expected to launch in London this autumn, bringing the franchise to the West End.
Although she typically draws inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology, author Collins has alluded to the topics the new book will explore. But this time, something a little different is inspiring the American author.
