For the first time, the UN placed Israel and the Hamas war on its blacklist for violence against children due to an “unprecedented” rise in “grave violations.”

For the first time, Israel and Hamas are on a UN list of nations that violate the rights of children.

According to the UN’s Children in Armed Conflict yearly report, an unprecedented number of children were killed and injured in 2023 as a result of fighting in Sudan, Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza.
They claimed that while there was a 155% spike in just the Israel-Hamas conflict, there was a “shocking 21% increase in grave violations” against people under the age of 18 in all wars last year.

Israeli troops were mentioned in the report for the first time, according to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, when the IDF began hitting hospitals and schools and murdering and maiming children.

In addition to Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters, Hamas was implicated in child abduction, murders, and injuries.

According to the UN study, “roughly 19,887 Palestinian children were reported killed or maimed” in the West Bank and Gaza Strip combined. They conclude that “the reports are pending verification” .
Gilad Erdan, Israel’s UN envoy, declared last week that he was “shocked and disgusted by this shameful decision” after learning that Israel’s military had been placed to the list.
