In the event of inciting violence and disorder, a court against terrorism in Islamabad on Tuesday ordered the confiscation of the moveable and immovable possessions of journalists and YouTubers, including Adil Raja, Shaheen Sehbai, Moeed Pirzada, Sabir Shakir, Haider Mehdi, and Wajahat Saeed Khan.
Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra of the ATC ordered the deputy commissioner in Islamabad to seize the assets of the YouTubers who are charged and deemed proclaimed offenders in the case.
Along with ordering the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency to block the accused individuals’ passports, the court also directed the chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority to block the accused individuals’ national identity and National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis cards.
Recorded are the prosecution witnesses’ remarks made against the accused.
This move coincides with a campaign of continuous persecution of those who are allegedly using digital platforms to incite violence and propagate hate speech.
