The government’s review petition against the removal of Dr. Shakeel Afridi’s wife’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL), a no-fly list that the Pakistani government maintains to prevent individuals from leaving the nation, has been accepted by the Peshawar High Court.
The Deputy Attorney General (DAG) was instructed by the two-judge bench, consisting of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Shakeel Ahmed, to provide the cabinet access to any evidence against Afridi’s wife. The DAG had maintained that the evidence was confidential and could not be presented in court.
In court, the Deputy Attorney General argued that someone could face legal action if the state possessed secret information against them.
The Deputy Attorney General’s motion was granted by the court, and it was handled appropriately.

However, due to his claimed connections to a local terrorist group called Mangal Bagh, he was detained and given a 33-year prison sentence. In a separate case, he was charged with murder.
