Local Mayor Emilio Navarro told News that “the Civil Guard is carrying out an investigation in this case that has several lines of inquiry open.”
Not that the hunt has come to an end. Perhaps in the area of the field search, but there are open lines elsewhere.”
On Sunday, the Civil Guard declared that they had completed their search of the mountainous region in northern Tenerife where Jay was last seen.
Less than two weeks had passed since the teenager’s disappearance.
The hunt for Jay had centered on the Rural de Teno national park.
On Monday, June 17, the next morning, his phone was last seen in the vicinity. He had informed a friend that the battery on his phone was almost dead.
Responding to criticism that the search was called off too soon, Santiago del Teide mayor Mr. Navarro told News that “a magnificent job has been done by the Civil Guard.”
“Until last week, many resources were allocated to the search,” he stated.
