Since September 2023, Pakistani security forces have carried out widespread anti-drug operations throughout the nation, leading to the recovery of 1,043 metric tons of drugs and the apprehension of 1,612 drug dealers.
3.52 metric tons of heroin and 45.18 metric tons of hashish have been seized as a result of the operations, which were started by the Pakistani government and military leadership. In addition, 8.55 metric tons of opium, 3.65 metric tons of methamphetamine, and 982 metric tons of other drugs have been taken into custody by the authorities.
varied regions saw varied amounts of drugs confiscated by security personnel in July alone: 1,094 kg from Balochistan, 133 kg from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 kg from Gilgit-Baltistan, 2 kg from Punjab, and 73 kg from Sindh among others.
Relevant organizations have pledged to keep up these initiatives.
