ISLAMABAD: Sher Afzal Marwat’s basic party membership was “decided” to be canceled by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday due to a “gross violation/breach” of discipline.
The PTI declared this decision in a notification that was supported by Firdous Shamim Naqvi, the PTI’s Additional Secretary General. Barrister Gohar Khan, the PTI Chairman, rejected the announcement, calling it “fake”.
“It is a false statement that Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership has been cancelled. It’s not conceivable,” he responded to the article, demonstrating the division within the PTI leadership regarding the maverick politician’s party membership. The party had already issued a warning to the politician to careful what he said.
PTI disagrees with the announcement of Sher Afzal Marwat’s termination.Marwat was placed on notice and instructed to “restrict himself, and his statements to within the limitation as outlined in the letter,” according to the PTI report. A committee was established to keep an eye on his remarks, appearances in the media, and tweets,” it said.
According to the committee’s findings, Sher Afzal Marwat disregards the party’s norms and discipline and believes he is above them. As a result, the party’s reputation and narrative have suffered greatly.
