The power corporation claimed in a statement that it had targeted Korangi neighborhoods such Pak Town, Chakra Goth, Labour Square, Sector 34/2, and Ibrahim Hyderi for electricity theft.
During the operation, subterranean cables that were illegitimately providing 595 homes, 70 businesses, 155 booths, 18 water pumps, and two parks with an estimated 84,000 units of stolen power were taken out.
Using unauthorized connections gets beyond the utility infrastructure’s safety measures, which are put in place by trained experts. It said, “This increases the risks to the general public, a risk that is further increased during unfavorable weather conditions like the current monsoon season.”
In an effort to lower line losses and safeguard power infrastructure, K-Electric regularly fights against the unauthorized use of electricity.
