On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that he will soon present the country with “good news” about a decrease in electricity rates along with a new economic strategy.
For months now, Pakistanis have been receiving inflated bills as a result of price increases made by the government in an effort to reduce the country’s electricity debt and comply with IMF requirements.
“Inflation exists now. Concerns about other issues, such as electricity bills, are prevalent. But not everything in the nation is bad, even if not everything is excellent,” the prime minister declared at a celebration of the 77th Independence Day in Islamabad.
The PM stated that without lower electricity costs, Pakistan’s businesses cannot grow and its exports cannot rise.
